Robin qualified with a BA (Hons) QTS in 1996 from Middlesex University. His specialist subjects were English and Drama.
Prior to this, he had worked for the NHS, as an Assistant Purser on a cruise ship and as an oversea representative in Greece and Portugal, for Thomson Holidays.
He decided that teaching was the career for him while working abroad and found that he had an affinity with children, especially those at Primary Age.
When qualified, he worked at Kenmore Park Middle School in Harrow where he taught Y4 and Y6, becoming Literacy Lead. He then moved onto Field End Junior School in Eastcote, where he was a member of the Senior Management Team as well as a Y4 and a Y5 teacher. He was also a Year Leader and again, in charge of English and Literacy. He then became Assistant Head at a school in Hertfordshire before moving back to Kenmore Park. While there he taught Y6, Y5 and Y7, while also leading English and Literacy. He became an Advanced Skills Teacher in Harrow, for English and Drama. This meant that he went into different schools in Harrow that where having difficulties with the English curriculum to help solve the problems. He also worked with teachers who were having trouble teaching the English and Drama curriculum. When Kenmore Park changed from a Middle School to a Junior School, he was asked to set up the new Y3 section of school. He did this and successfully ran it for 3 years. More recently, he has been Deputy Head of a school in Hertfordshire and Assistant Head of a school in Berkshire.
Robin became frustrated by the bureaucracy that was coming into schools and realised that he was not happy in school management. He wished to go back to the reasons that he went into teaching, namely helping children to become the best version of themselves. He thoroughly enjoys teaching 1 to 1 and says that one of the best parts of this job, is when a child has that “DING!” moment.
To this end, he now works at schools in Hertfordshire, while developing other projects.
